2008 Dodge Avenger- Car Pictures
Dodge is dropping the Stratus nameplate as they realized that people were not happy with Stratus and replacing it with the Avenger label onto its all-new 2008 mid-size Sedan.
If one analyzes its domestic competition, Chrysler's Dodge unit has done a fantastic job of sustaining a youthful, performance identity. It's hard to think of a time in the past decade, when a new or revised Dodge landed with a thud.
Thus, the introduction of a new model like the 2008 Dodge Avenger is fraught with peril and commitment. Though the name Avenger has been used before on a coupe produced between 1995 and 2000, the 2008 version is an all-new, mid-size Sedan that replaces the Dodge Stratus.
The 2008 Dodge Avenger starts at $18,895, a substantial price drop from a comparably equipped Stratus. The mid-sized Dodge Avenger is rated at 32 mpg based on 2007 EPA standards, with the four-cylinder engine; it can be equipped with all wheel drive, a sport-tuned suspension, electronic stability and traction control, chill zone, theft alarm, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel; and has a high seating position.
This new engine provides a 15 percent increase in horsepower and an 8 percent improvement in fuel economy compared with the 2.4-liter engine it replaces.
